Civic Academy
The Derech Eretz education program trains organizers, coordinators, and community leaders to solve real problems where they live.
What the Program Covers
  • Civic literacy
Closing the political knowledge gap. How to engage with state institutions and get results.
  • Practical skills
Courses in fundraising, civic advocacy, and the legal and financial nuts and bolts.
  • A unique track — Halacha for the Secular
Reframing the tradition as a resource for civic resilience.
  • Youth program
Building the next generation's leadership bench.
  • Format
In-person and online. Instructors are working organizers, lawyers, economists, and researchers. Every course ends with a hands-on assignment: participants take what they've learned and apply it to a real problem in their own neighborhood or city.
Mission. Build the next generation of Israeli civic leaders — people with the skills to launch and sustain durable structures of local self-governance and self-organization.
What We're Building
  • We are growing a durable bench of civic leaders in cities across Israel — people with a track record of launching and running grassroots projects. Our graduates become the talent pipeline for neighborhood councils and municipal government.
  • We give organizers from Derech Eretz and partner organizations access to a common training standard and expert advice. Our curriculum covers the core competencies: fundraising, legal support, civic advocacy, and effective community governance.
